When it comes to illusions, nothing is like it seems. In yogic philosophy, the sanskrit term for this MAYA. Maya is an illusion that projects reality in the mind. But when the mind is clear in a consciousness state, maya disappears.
Let me put this way, are you a story maker? Before you know all the details about something or someone, do you begin to create a story behind it? Creating your own reality, thus creating an illusion in your mind? Which in turn probably affects your reactions and your thoughts?
Maya can cloud our judgement whereby we fail to see things as they are or able to make wise choices. Maya is like a filter in our mind that interferes with our thinking and makes us see what we want to see rather that what truly exists.
Next time you find yourself creating stories and illusions, try meditating to quiet your busy mind. Pausing and clearing your mind will help you escape from Maya’s trap so you can connect with what is real.
